Actually Tim i do see your point about Michael Bay, though when i saw Armageddon i was just a lad of 16, and i was with people of a similar age. A few actually cried (granted, they were girls) but to a teenager the film was quality.

I haven't actually seen the film at all in the last 4 years, so it had no lasting impression on me.

Perhaps if i were to watch it again now with filmmakers eyes i would have a different opinion, but i really couldn't be bothered.

In any case, i just watch Michael Bay movies expecting nothing more than cliched dialogue and action. He's never let me down. I'll even be there to see The Island when it comes out.

It might be different for me because i am the only filmmaker in my circle of friends, so i can't really be an ass and refuse to watch half the crap that gets released. It seems to me that filmmakers are MUCH harder to please, or that they're pleased by completely different films than the general movie-going public.

And DAMN that Pacifier for actually making money [img]mad.gif[/img]

Uwe Boll doesn't actually GET funding for his films. The guy is loaded, he's credited as producer on all his films because he had to back them himself.

Michael Bay is an interesting choice for somebody you'd want gone. I mean, i can totally understand where you're coming from, but the guy isn't insultingly talentless. Within the genre he can do (action) he seems pretty good. And plus Team America wouldn't exist as it is without him [img]wink.gif[/img]

Actually, judging from your list, i'm guessing you're actually against pulp filmmaking as a whole, which is fair enough. It is a shame that the real money is in mindless crap, but until people start spending their money on something more worthy than the Pacifier then things aren't gonna change.

In a perfect world Before Sunset would have made more money than AvP.

I actually liked the trailer of the Island, looked interesting.

Then the words 'Directed by Michael Bay' grotesqueley appeaered on screen and I saw an image of poo in my head.

I really don't like anything about Vin Diesel, but I guess he's about the only 'action star' of this generation. Sylvester, Arnie, Seagal and Lundgren are ye olde. You could say the same about their old movies.

Kindergarten Cop = the pacifier. But Kindergarten Cop was awesome.

Yeah i think a lot of people have a strong dislike for Vin Diesel... I got nothing against the man, i just think he could be doing so much more than the typical action hero roles.

I thought he was good in Boiler Room, Saving Private Ryan and Knockaround Guys... but maybe that's because those movies actually made an attempt to give him some character other than "well, he has muscles, and he wants revenge"
or the current "well, he has muscles, and he has to look after some kids"

I also liked him in Saving Private Ryan.....Mostly because he was killed very close to the beginning of the film. To leave him in the film any longer would have been a huge waste of celluloid [img]graemlins/whatever.gif[/img] Might as well have used the almighty wrestler/actor (and I say actor very loosely) the ROCK...

Perhaps judging whether somebody can act or not is subjective...

Ooops, I take that back. If I were 12 or 13, heck maybe even 14 I would appreciate the (enormous) depth that the Rock can pull of in his characters and his wonderful choice of parts he chooses to play. Same with Mr. Diesel. That is why I say you could have used either meat head in that part. As long as you killed them off early. The integrity of that film would have definitely been jeopardized if that were not to happen.

I'm having trouble thinking how to reply to you Direktyr, i can't tell if you're being serious or if you have something against buff guys.
I would consider Paul Walker to be a far worse actor.

Actually, now that he's sprung to mind, here's the biggest telltale sign of a bad actor to me:

They're the same guy in every film.
